The 2026 CWU Annual Conference brought branches from across the union together at the Bournemouth International Centre for a full week of debate, democracy and decision‑making. Delegates from North Anglia joined colleagues from every region to shape national policy, strengthen our industrial strategy, and set the direction of the union for the year ahead.
General Conference – Sunday & Monday
General Conference opened the week with two days focused on the big issues affecting all CWU members. Delegates debated motions on national policy, equality, governance, campaigning, and the future direction of the union. These sessions set the tone for the week, reaffirming our commitment to dignity at work, fairness, and strong collective organisation.
Telecoms & Financial Services Conference – Tuesday to Thursday
From Tuesday through Thursday, attention turned to the Telecoms & Financial Services (T&FS) Conference. Delegates worked through a packed agenda covering job security, training and skills, health and safety, welfare standards, conduct procedures, and the challenges facing workers across BT, Openreach, EE, VM02, Capita, Santander and the wider T&FS sector. These debates shaped the industrial priorities that will guide our work over the coming year.
A Week That Shapes Our Union’s Future
Across all sessions, Conference 2026 highlighted the strength of our collective voice and the importance of democratic decision‑making. Delegates returned home with a clear mandate for the campaigns, negotiations and organising work ahead.
