The health aspect focuses on the physical, mental and social wellbeing of employees. While, the safety side is concerned with preventing accidents, injuries and hazards. Together, health, safety and welfare encompass the holistic wellbeing, protection and flourishing of individuals by addressing physical, mental and social aspects, ensuring secure environments for you.
The importance of health, safety and welfare
The importance of health and safety in the workplace simply cannot be underestimated. As well as being the law, it should be the number one mission statement for all good employers to make sure their staff are not at risk of any injury as a result of the work they do.
Health, safety and welfare serves to protect the employee, our members, any visitors to the business, like clients and members of the general public. Employers have a duty of care to ensure a safe working environment under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, but more than that, it’s good business practice to adhere to health and safety laws.
