This Sunday, We Rally!
CWU North Anglia Branch will be proudly attending the Burston Strike School Rally on Sunday 7th September, alongside our brilliant colleagues from other CWU branches. Come join us in celebrating solidarity, resistance, and the power of collective action!
What’s Burston all about?
The Burston Strike School Rally commemorates the longest-running strike in British history, sparked in 1914 when schoolchildren walked out in support of their teachers, Tom and Kitty Higdon, who were sacked for standing up to injustice. The strike lasted 25 years and birthed a school built by the community, for the community. It’s a living legacy of working-class defiance and union strength.
Why should YOU be there?
Because this rally isn’t just history, it’s a call to action. It’s a chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow trade unionists, hear from inspiring speakers, enjoy live music, and show that CWU members are still fighting for fairness, dignity, and respect in every workplace.
Look out for our CWU Eastern Region Banner. We’ll be there with good vibes, and plenty of solidarity.
Come and Join Us in our show of solidarity and strength.
Church Green, Burston, near Diss, Norfolk
Starts from 10am
Don’t forget to tag us in your pics and stories!
